Long-term results of core decompression for ischaemic necrosis of the femoral head.
We have studied the long-term results of core decompression as the sole treatment for Ficat stages I, II and III ischaemic necrosis of 128 femoral heads in 90 patients. The 5-, 10- and 15-year survival rates for the three stages were respectively: stage I 100%, 96% and 90%; stage II 85%, 74% and 66%; and stage III 58%, 35% and 23%. At a mean follow-up of 11 years (4.5 to 19), 55 hips had failed...
متن کاملComparison of Total Hip Arthroplasty and Core Decompression in Avascular Necrosis of the Femoral Head after Taking Temgesic and Norgesic
Background: Osteonecrosis is common after taking Temgesic and Norgesic. This study intended to suggest the preferable surgical treatment in osteonecrosis patients who use these drugs. Methods: Twenty tree patients with hip osteonecrosis who were hospitalized in the Kerman hospitals after using Temgesic and Norgesic were followed for about 14 months from 2008 to 2010 (from a minimum of 2 months ...
متن کاملefficacy of core decompression of femoral head to treat avascular necrosis in intravenous drug users.
core decompression (cd) of the femoral head is one of the effective treatments of avascular necrosis (avn), especially in the early stages of the disease. to investigate further the value of cd in treating the avn, this study was performed on patients with symptomatic avn with different etiologies who were treated with cd. this study was carried out on 25 patients (with the total number of 37 f...
متن کاملSubchondral Insufficiency Fracture of the Femoral Head Treated with Core Decompression and Bone Void Filler Support
Subchondral insufficiency fracture of the femoral head (SIFFH) is characterized by acute onset hip pain without overt trauma. It appears as a low intensity band with bone marrow edema on T1-weighted MRI. The most common course of treatment is protected weight bearing for a period of several weeks. Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been commonly used if the patient does not respond to the initial...
متن کاملModifications to advanced Core decompression for treatment of Avascular necrosis of the femoral head
BACKGROUND "Advanced Core Decompression" (ACD) is a new technique for treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) that includes removal of the necrotic tissue using a percutaneous expandable reamer followed by refilling of the drill hole and the defect with an injectable, hard-setting, composite calcium sulphate (CaSO4)-calcium phosphate (CaPO4) bone graft substitute. As autologous bo...
